Choosing the Right Roof Pitch
Big Shed roof pitch dimension

Want to be pitch perfect? We’re not talking about tunes, we’re talking about your Big Shed’s roof pitch. We offer six different roof pitch options to help design your Big Shed to match your needs.

Let’s get into it.

What is Roof Pitch anyway?

Roof Pitch refers to the angle or steepness of your shed’s roof. It’s measured in degrees and while it may not seem like much on paper, a few degrees can make a big difference.

A steeper pitch means better rainwater runoff and more vertical space inside, while a flatter pitch gives you a cleaner profile and makes for a simpler build.

Big Shed Roof Pitch Options

5 degree pitch

The lowest pitch we offer and the most common for Skillion roof designs. For a gable, a low 5 degrees can be used to maximise wall height if your council has overall height restrictions. A 5 degree skillion works in areas with low rainfall and makes for a modern look. Really easy to install as the slope isn’t hard to build.

10 degree pitch

Simple and practical. We often see these requested for machinery sheds, small businesses, or farm equipment storage. It’s great for everyday functionality, also easy to install.

15 degree pitch

This one hits the sweet spot. It’s got enough height to give you a decent water run-off and headroom. It suits most rural, backyard, and commercial set-ups.

20 degree pitch

Need more clearance inside or better ventilation? This steps it up and improves water run-off and headroom. If you’re thinking of installing a mezzanine or stacking storage high, this one’s a winner.

25 degree pitch

This pitch is a little closer to the one you might have on your home. Also great for a classic barn look with a couple of lean-tos of the sides. 25 degrees gives you great drainage, strong presence, and an unmissable rural shed feel.

30 degree pitch

Now that’s steep. This is great for snow zones, heritage-style buildings, or anyone wanting big height and bigger visual impact. Bare in mind this pitch is a little harder when it comes to installation given the extreme slope.
